FRAMEWORK OF EDUCATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

1. ABOUT CONTINENTAL EDUCATORS

History

Established in 2002, by Mr. Rabind Elias Pereira, Continental Educators (CE) took over courses run by the Stamford College Group in Singapore. Mr. R. Pereira is the son of Elias Pereira, founder of Stamford Singapore & Malaysia. Mr. R. Pereira has extensive managerial experience in the Education sector since 1973.

Vision

CE a Singapore Ministry of Education Registered school has set up a premier centre, for Hospitality studies and intends to partake in the development of the Hospitality Industry. The Industry, a major source of employment for economies worldwide, is the fastest growing industry in the world. CE has developed five and ten year plans which will further promote the interest of the industry wider. Students will be able to participate in these plans and look forward to an enriching and rewarding career. CE has also currently partnered with selected major industry organizations to provide Graduates with work/trainee experience in the various continents of the world. Our major vision is to provide the Industry with Graduates who have had work experience in as many countries as possible and further promote the functionality of the Industry.

Motto

CE’s Motto is “Showing you the way forward in Hotel and Hospitality Management Studies”. The underlying theme is our innovative spirit and motivation to drive the best out of the Industry for our Graduates. We also are driven to show continual development of the services provided to the student at CE or externally via the establishment of strong associations and alliances with major reputable organizations in the world.

Industry Background

The Industry traditionally has been driven within the organisations itself with promotions based on experience alone. Today with more sophistication in major components of the Industry, such as guest expectations, larger organisations, improvement of local and regional economies, there became a need for a more professional and structured approach to delivering what customers wanted and needed. CE has devised a mixture of programs incorporating resources from the AH&LA to devise a specialized programs for the Hospitality Industry.

2. Director’s Foreword:

Education is an ongoing exercise in the development of programs and students to meet the needs of society. Continental Educators (CE) is determined to provide the latest and best methods in order to produce Graduates with the relevant skills needed for the Industry. We draw our expertise from our management team with over 30 years of education experience as well as the experience of our US associates with more than 90 years of educational systems experience. Our methods have been developed over the years and we have educational systems in place for each subject area that a student completes in our Programs.

Over the years as internationalism has grown and along with it international education, there has been a need to allay fears of foreign students when they are studying in foreign lands. Coming to a new country may prove daunting to some of you. This can easily translate to a hindrance to your studies. Unable to know the living conditions or economic climate of the country or its systems may distract you from reaching your goals at CE.

At CE we try and help you overcome some of the difficulties you may face, studying and living in Singapore. Unfortunately we cannot advise you on every possible event that may go wrong. We can however provide you with enough information that will assist you in obtaining the best possible education while you are with CE.

Matters such as educational systems used, facilities, payment of course fees, refund policies and withdrawal will all be explained to you. These appear in your enrolment forms, or standard CASE student contracts. As an added measure all foreign students would need to enter into a contract with the school, whereby tuition fees will be deposited into an escrow account. Should the school not for some reason complete its obligation to the student by not fulfilling the completion of the course, then the tuition fees may be refunded to the student.

As Director of CE, it is my pleasure to endorse the fact that you will receive the best possible education, within the time frame allocated, simply because we are regarded the largest suppliers of hospitality training materials and awards in the world. While not just relying on this, we continually strive to adapt to a better standard of service.

Enjoy your studies, and please read the information below on how you can really achieve efficiency in your studies at CE

RABIND ELIAS PEREIRA, Esq.,
Director

Singapore is a very safe country, relative to neighboring countries. Rules are very clear and strict in Singapore. Singapore has gained this reputation by introducing strict laws and guidelines as well as enforcing these laws fully. Singapore is also making headway in protecting the needs of foreign students. Useful information can also be obtained from the Singapore Tourism Board. Information about the Singapore Tourism Board will be given during Orientation. In Singapore there are several neighborhood Police Posts where you can lodge reports for example if lose anything of value such as your Student Pass or Passport. In general the Government Agencies are efficient and handles most cases with ease. Please notify CE of any such event and the school will assist also in coming to a conclusion for you in any of these events.

Please adhere to all rules in Singapore eg no smoking in public places etc. If you are uncertain please contact CE.

Information on opening bank accounts or obtaining a mobile phone etc can be obtained from CE or from the relevant banks or telephone companies in Singapore.
