Our major vision is to provide the Industry with Graduates who have had work experience in as many countries as possible and further promote the functionality of the Industry

Motto

CE’s Motto is “Showing you the way forward in Hotel and Hospitality Management Studies”. The underlying theme is our innovative spirit and motivation to drive the best out of the Industry for our Graduates. We also are driven to show continual development of the services provided to the student at CE or externally via the establishment of strong associations and alliances with major reputable organizations in the world.

Industry Background

The Industry traditionally has been driven within the organisations itself with promotions based on experience alone. Today with more sophistication in major components of the Industry, such as guest expectations, larger organisations, improvement of local and regional economies, there became a need for a more professional and structured approach to delivering what customers want and needed. CE has devised a mixture of programs incorporating resources worldwide to devise specialized programs for the Hospitality Industry and for budding Hoteliers. Students have been placed directly in industry as well as support industries such as hospitality supplies, exhibitions and the meetings markets, travel and computer support industries. Students can not only look forward to a career in the Integrated Resorts (IR), but also with the structure of our program, be able to contribute and work in the associated industries that form the main part of the IR and the general hospitality industry in Singapore and Internationally. The awards received are the most accepted for Hospitality studies in the world.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association: (AH&LA)

Established over 90 years ago, the AH&LA are the pioneers in Hospitality Industry training worldwide. AH&LA provides certification for professionals in the Industry as well as supplies educational resources to meet the training needs of the Industry. The AH&LA materials are some of the most comprehensive and up to date training packages parallel to much of the curriculum found in top universities offering hospitality as a field of specialized study. Its advisors and course tutors are drawn from eminent universities which include Cornell, Michigan State and Florida International, to name a few. Some of these packages have actually been incorporated by several university professors as part of their teaching and seminar curriculum. The AH&LA materials embrace a wide range of applications in hospitality, covering all aspects of operations such as marketing, sales, promotion, purchasing, food and beverage control, personnel management, facilities management, and financial and managerial accounting.

Regarded as the world’s largest certification and resource provider for the Hospitality Industry, AH&LA has over a million graduates for its certification courses.

3.Objectives – Continental Advanced Standing Diploma (CEASD) – Hospitality Management Major

Aims of the CEASD

The program is designed to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform at supervisory /trainee management levels. The program incorporates the US AH&LA Diploma in Hospitality Management which has a long history in the Industry and many current managers are holders of this award. The CEASD reinforces this US diploma with a more rounded education, where the US Diploma is very procedural in nature, the CEASD grooms the student to a higher level as required for advanced standing at higher learning institutions. Students are given the opportunity to use thought processors in analyzing cases, management functions through presentations, and research in developing major project assignments.

Objective of the CEASD

The CEASD objective is to groom the student to a managerial trainee level, with adequate skills to perform at various departments or segments of the Industry as well as having the skills necessary to complete a degree program if necessary. Students can obtain a Degree in one year after their CEASD by full time or part time studies in Singapore. The CEASD allows students:

A. Direct entry to final year of a Degree conducted in Singapore –
BA (Hons) Business Management – Hospitality & Tourism Management,

OR

B. Direct entry to the UK - Post Graduate Level

The program also allows graduates an opportunity to train in USA, or Europe, subject to visa clearance. Graduates would normally commence at line levels in order to obtain a better understanding of the workings of the industry.

Typical Graduate educational traits:

Our graduates would have good understanding of the English language and in particular Hospitality Communication. They will also be able to understand separate areas within the Hospitality Industry management functions, such as Front Office, Housekeeping management, Supervisory and management skills, Accounting procedures and standards, Meetings and the Convention markets, Club and resort management. A major emphasis is given to customer and guest relations, social and communication skills, and of course personal grooming. They are also more inclined to follow the western style of learning which is self learning and understanding as opposed to relying on rote learning.
